We acted on behalf of three separate landowners to deliver a strategic approach for their property when access and land rights were required for the development of NnG offshore wind farm. It wasn’t straightforward, but we like a challenge.
To enable connectivity of the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe windfarm to the national grid, 12.3km of buried onshore cable was required. We advised landowners over 25% of the cable route and the landowner of the substation.
By understanding the implications for the current land use, and working with existing windfarm tenants, we were able to negotiate the best possible deal for the landowners, both financially and strategically.
Negotiations were complex, involving existing rights granted to the grid network operator as well as a large operational onshore wind farm. Our knowledge of the renewable energy market and understanding of the property rights and legal intricacies involved was essential in manoeuvring through numerous lease agreements to ensure our clients received optimal returns.
As well as being professionally intriguing, our involvement ensured our clients retained as much control as possible and have been justly compensated for the disruption.
Our ability to communicate and work in a constructive and proactive way with all interested parties paid dividends for our clients as well as ensuring the construction phase had minimal impact on the existing agricultural and windfarm operations.
