RNLI

The existing lifeboat station was deemed insufficient to accommodate the modern requirements of the RNLI and its larger, more responsive rescue vessels.  Upgrading this building had been scoped but rejected and a new purpose-built facility was the preferred option.

Our instruction from the project architect was to provide an overarching policy statement in support of the planning application. We researched and analysed documentation from several sources including Historic Environment Policy for Scotland, National Planning Framework, Scottish Planning Policy, Conservation Area Management Plans as well as the Local Development Plans.

Together with relevant material considerations in the form of an environmental screening and scoping report, design statement, flood risk assessment and transportation statement, our appraisal was critical to the project’s approval.
