A high-quality development to address the shortfall of housing in East Essex, our strategic planning advice was required to achieve consent and promote the land through a local plan

Our client was a local house builder who wished to achieve planning permission for a 40-dwelling scheme in east Essex. We were instructed to secure consent and regenerate an area of the village that had fallen into a state of disrepair - the site consisted of derelict allotments that were used by the local community.

The planning application demonstrated how the development would revitalize the space and proposed a design concept that was very sympathetic to existing dwellings in the region. The village is in a conservation area and features many historic houses, which inspired the architecture of the new development. Additionally, the layout of the site mirrors that of a traditional village street, complete with green spaces and public paths.

Due to the biodiverse nature of the site, the planning application included a 'newt corridor' under the new road, along with a pond. The housing scheme revitalized the allotments sites (that are now legally protected) and serviced them with water and parking facilities

The community embraced the housing scheme that transformed a prominent area of the village and provided excellent new housing for the region.
