Strategically placed biodiversity net gain scheme, generating 380 biodiversity units across three local planning authorities.

Located between Tiptree Heath SSSI and Whetmead Nature Reserve, this site will act as a stepping-stone to link habitats of high ecological value.

The scheme will see the conversion of arable land to biodiverse habitats, generating approximately 380 biodiversity units consisting of species-rich grassland, heathland and scrub, ponds, woodland and species-rich native hedgerow.

BNG delivery will form the backbone of an environmental strategy for the entire Park, maximising benefits to a wide range of ecosystem services at landscape scale.

The biodiversity baseline and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan have been completed for this scheme.

Developers can secure biodiversity units for the following habitat types:

  • Grassland habitats of medium distinctiveness
  • Heathland and shrub habitats of medium distinctiveness
  • Woodland habitats of medium distinctiveness
  • Lake habitats of high distinctiveness
  • Rural trees of medium distinctiveness
  • Cropland habitats of medium distinctiveness
  • Hedgerow habitats of low to high distinctiveness
